An interview with Weng Divina, our Digital Marketing Lead | E-Commerce

Tell us about what you do for Centric Squared.

Answer: I handle e-commerce product management and on-page SEO. I also design landing pages, update minor web pages, and manage Facebook Business Manager for our clients.

What skills do you have for this role?

Answer: I am comfortable using Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, and WordPress CMS, and I have a little bit of background in HTML & CSS. I am also skilled in on-page and off-page SEO and Canva design. I am also proficient in Meta Business Suite or Business Manager. Based on experience, almost all new clients have issues related to their FB/IG Shop, and I’ve enjoyed being able to help them resolve the issues.

Can you describe the path that led you to Centric Squared?

Answer: I worked in the cinema and leasing industry before joining the freelance world. As my son started school, I wanted to work at home and focus on his journey. Way back in 2017, I handled various remote jobs, and then in 2020, I joined Centric Squared. I was onboarded here as a Social Media Support, then, later on, I began working on other web tasks related to digital marketing.

What’s different about working as a freelancer vs. an agency setting for you?

Answer: As a freelancer, it’s important to have a little knowledge of everything especially if you are the only Virtual Assistant. While here in the agency, everyone has their expertise and I’ve learned a lot from our talented team. It’s amazing that you can always message and collaborate with the team.

What’s a lesson you’ve learned since joining the team?

Answer:  Having different time zones and languages is not a barrier to accomplishing things. With proper communication and teamwork, work can be easier and more productive.

What advice would you give to someone who is interested in working at a digital marketing agency?

Answer: Learn the online tools, practice them and keep learning. It’s okay to pause for a while (sometimes work and life is exhausting), but don’t quit. Take advantage of the free online resources, but if you don’t have time or don’t want to be overwhelmed with the mass information online, go for paid courses– it’s worth it.

When you’re not working, what are you doing?

Answer: I like to spend time with my son, watch movies together, dine out, try new foods and visit new places. Also, I’m continuously learning blockchain technology since I’m investing in some cryptocurrencies.

What’s one book on your bookshelf right now?

Answer: I mainly use E-books, and one on my list is “What A Son Needs from His Mom.” You know, being a mom to a 10-year-old boy, you need tons of information (and tips) in raising a good man. I’ve been reading about early/precocious puberty too (paranoid mama)!
